I support this proclamation because…

  1. Jesus never spoke against love, but he did speak against legalistic interpretation of scripture used to ostracize and marginalize people.

  2. If anything is an abomination to the Lord, it is proclaiming hate and injustice as a way of God.

  3. I know first hand how important the inclusion of LGBT community members into the Christian community truly is. As an LGBT community member myself I struggled for years and sometimes still falter, in the face of others when it comes to the question of my legitimate claim to be a Christian. We all deserve the right to worship regardless of sexuality.

  4. Love is love. It’s as simple as that. This proclamation is a powerful step for the church, the Midwest, and all people who value love.
