Grateful response to Heartland Proclamation

June 16, 2011

This is the statement that Omaha resident Sam Fischer delivered at the Press Conference on June 15, 2011.

Hello, I am Sam Fischer.  I was born and raised in Omaha, NE.  I grew up in a Christian faith that was not supportive of me or of other members of the LGBT community.

For me to be here, experiencing the Heartland Proclamation, is amazing.  It makes me truly happy that the verdict is in, the silence has ended, and the intolerance, discrimination and suffering are over.  So, thank you, for shining the light of truth and welcoming us with compassion into your family.

Thank you!
