Vancouver, BC, Clergy Inspired by Heartland Proclamation

July 9, 2011

Today a group of clergy from Vancouver, BC, issued The Vancouver Proclamation – a document inspired by The Heartland Proclamation, whose wording closely follows it.  Other groups have contacted us asking if they could borrow the wording to create their own proclamations.  We say, “Go for it!”  Our own proclamation was inspired by one developed years ago by an Arizona group called No Longer Silent: Clergy for Justice, which has been signed by over 160 Arizona clergy.  Their hope has been that groups would create similar documents, adjusted to fit their local contexts.  That’s our hope, too!
